SOUND ARCHIVE

We have been building up an audio collection of Northern Ireland World Cup songs, great goals and classic clips. You'll need a Realplayer to hear them which can be downloaded for free from here. Don't need the fancy players or 'free trial' offer, just the basic free one. Some of the clips/songs take an age to connect but are worth the wait!

Some of these clips especially the World Cup songs could seriously damage your health, giving permanent smile syndrome and sore sides! You have been warned!!

GREAT GOALS

Arconada... Armstrong! That goal from Spain 1982. Beating the hosts, beating the crowd and beating the referee.

Stewart and Whiteside v Germany 1-0 home 1982 and 0-1 away 1983. The first and only time a team has beaten the Germans home and away in a major qualifying competition.

Michael Hughes v Germany 1997 to put us 1-0 up, until Herr Bierhoff came on.

Danny Griffin v The Beggars in Dublin 1999. The perfect end to a perfect day. Took the piss both inside and outside the ground.

Jimmy Quinn v the Beggars 1993. Just wasn't enough to stop them getting to USA 94 but sent us into heaven until they equalised. RTE coverage.

CLASSIC CLIPS

A wee taste of the Kop in full effect.

The Final Whistle at Wembley sending us to Mexico 1986 after drawing 0-0 with England.

Alan McDonald's post match interview. The England fan's had been chanting "It's a fix". Big Mac puts them right!

WORLD CUP SONGS

Many thanks to Roger, Mark the Hatchetman and Gary Harland for aid in compiling this collection.

SPAIN 1982

Yer Man

Dana

Convent girl Eurovision winner and now a MEP in the Republic, but surely this was the highlight of her career? A classic. Unfortunally the b side was only an insturmental of Yer Man.

Viva Ireland

Gene Fitzpatrick

The second worse Irish comedian ever. Proof all Ireland was behind us. Ha. No idea what he is doing now. Hopefully retired. The b side is very Jimmy Young and will bring tears to your eyes. Tears of pain.

I'm Yer Man

Billy's Boys

Sammy Mackie

Last spotted at the game in Teplice. Still unsure if Yer Man was a parody of him or he was a parody of Yer Man. I hope the jump in the Billy's Boys recording won't spoil your enjoyment.

Three Cheers

John Watt

Beleived to be 'The Singing Farmer' from Ballymoney! No other info on this. The B side was a tribute to Joey Dunlop.

Northern Ireland are Magic

Barbara Allen

From Carrick and a real Country and Western star, even has her own website! B-side was some sop about marrying your sister or something. The chorus could be a new Kop chant, perhaps not.

MEXICO 1986

Come On Northern Ireland

Soye Brothers

Winners of a competition to write a song for Mexico. From Hillsborough which says it all. The only into on them we have is that they both suffered from arthritis! Said of the players once the song was recorded, "They've done a mighty job."

Here We Go

Jim Doherty

Runner up in the competition and on the B-side. A jazz musician from the Republic! Never a bandwagon jumper, still following the so called 'Green Machine'.

Bingham's Boys

Charlie McGettigan

Must have come third and again on the B-side. This 'folk star' is another one from the Republic who can still be seen on the Kop most match days. I don't think.

Sammy Kirkpatrick

Ivan Martin

At last the reason why Ivan Martin grew a bread! Trying to hide the shame of this effort.

We're All Bound For Mexico

Jonathan Young

No info on this floor filling rarity! Looks like it was only released on tape, thank God!

Pat Jennings

John Watt

Is this the singing farmer back for more? Tribute to Big Pat on the other side of the Jonanthan Young tape.

If anybody has any further info or knows of any other songs from the World Cup's please contact us.
